Greater Morgantown CVB Nabs 4th “Stars of the Industry” Tourism Award

The Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has received a prestigious award from the West Virginia Governor’s Conference on Tourism “Stars of the Industry” Tourism Awards. The GMCVB was awarded with Best Overall Marketing Campaign (its 2nd win in this category) for their marketing promotion with the brand’s groundhog mascot, “Mo.”

The GMCVB is now a 4-time “Stars of the Industry” Tourism Award-winner. In 2012, they previously won for Best Overall Marketing Campaign and Best Web Site, and in 2006 they were also awarded for Marketing Campaign.

“Stars of the Industry” awards honor tourism entities and the work they are doing in the state. The “Best Overall Marketing Campaign” award is given to the organization that uses the most imaginative and innovative marketing.

The award-winning campaign enhanced the GMCVB’s overall brand recognition and broadened its appeal to all ages through the creation and introduction of the brand mascot, “Mo.”

“Mo” was originally introduced in 2013, and a life-size character of “Mo” debuted on Groundog Day 2014. On that day, he invited people to “share his shadow in a selfie” by taking a photo and posting it to the GMCVB’s Facebook page for a chance to win a prize.

Please visit the GMCVB at www.tourmorgantown.com or to view the “Mo” marketing campaign in action, or call 800.458.7373 for more information, such as a complete list of events, attractions, shopping and accommodations.
